Our Blood and CSF*: The Fluids of Earth and Space (Asheville, NC) with Bob Lehnberg

  • Happy Body 25 Reed Street Asheville (map)

Our body has a cellular and extracellular fluid foundation. These fluids traverse membranes to transform into blood. Besides carrying nutrients and wastes, blood offers us a somatic sense of grounded and weighted being. The movement of blood manifests in arterial pulse-like rhythms, venous wave-like rhythms and momentary rest in the capillaries. The capillaries create the zone of the isoring, allowing us to pause in our coming and going. Each facet of blood expresses and is receptive to different qualities of presence, movement, and touch.

The density of blood is counterbalanced by the spaciousness of cerebrospinal fluid (*CSF). The cerebrospinal fluid is produced in the central nervous system and bathes and nourishes the brain, spinal cord and spinal nerves. The cerebrospinal fluid has a rhythmic flow to deeply, softly and powerfully move all the bones and soft tissues of the body. In an expanding and condensing fashion, it can even provide fluid support to reorganize the myofascia. By embodying the cerebrospinal fluid and its rhythm, we can provide a deep sense of ease and wholeness in ourselves and our clients.

This class is based on principles of Body-Mind Centering® and is aimed to help practitioners refine their somatic presence, manual applications and support somatic intelligence through skilled touch and movement. Participants learn to broaden and apply their touch and presence to the modalities and protocols they already use.

We begin class with simple qigong exercise and continue with informative talks, demonstration, hands-on and experiential activities. Please wear comfortable, modest clothing.
